Unforgettable Experiences on The MS Chi Cheemaun

Tobermory Ferry

Known as the Big Canoe - the M.S. Chi Cheemaun is the connecting path between Tobermory at the northern end of Highway 6 and South Baymouth in Manitoulin Island. However, the journey is far from just a connection from A to B. It is an experience unlike anything else in Ontario and one of the biggest draws for curious travellers from across the world.

South Baymouth and Back - Day Trip Most don’t know that you can do a trip on the Chi Cheemaun Ferry as a day trip. With 3 options to choose what suits you best you can either ride as As a passenger (no vehicle) debarking in South Baymouth and able to explore the area for up to 13 hours! Of course you can take any of the multiple trips back to the mainland when you are done for the day.

As a passenger (no vehicle) on a non-debarking journey. Enjoying the round trip open waters as you enjoy the sights from the top deck, relax in the sun, enjoy a beverage from the on board bar or some snacks from the cafeteria. Instead of stepping out into South Baymouth, you simply stay on board and enjoy the trip back to Tobermory.

Stargazing on Board The Bruce Peninsula is known for being a Dark Sky Community - and it is truly remarkable the stars that can be seen from the skies over Lake Huron. This pales in comparison to what can be seen from the top deck of the M.S. Chi Cheemaun. Millions of stars, views of the milky way, serene nothingness on all sides around and nothing to do but sit and enjoy. On board astronomy experts help you navigate the stars, learn about their meanings to our previous generations while telling stories and allowing you to view through telescopes.

Multiple cruise dates are available throughout the season for the Stargazing Experience. Manitoulin Bike Ride Whether an avid road cyclist, or a casual cruiser - leaving your car behind and bringing your bike to Manitoulin Island is a recipe for a great day! Debarking from South Baymouth you can find roads that are wide with paved shoulders, slow traffic and wonderful scenery. There are multiple small restaurants and shops to explore, museums to stop in and lookout points to enjoy. All within only a few kilometres of the port.

Live Entertainment Plan your trip well and you can sail across Lake Huron with on board entertainment from a collection of authors, poets, and musicians. From novelists such as Antanas Seleika to Juno award nominee Folk Singer Jeremy Fisher.
